Sweet Strawberry: I was able to be with her to say "Good bye".
Tarnished Crown: I had to miss the funeral...
Sweet Strawberry: ...because my husband, my children, my mother, my sister-in-law and I left for Disney World the next day for a trip that we have been planning for 8 months.
Tarnished Crown: I'm having a hysterectomy 10/20.
Sweet Strawberry: The Dallas Night chapter has organized dinners for my family for 2 weeks after that plus a couple of ladies have already sent restaurant gift cards.
Sweet Strawberry: My husband and I will celebrate our 11th anniversary on 10/16. He is a great guy!
Tarnished Crown: Except...he usually doesn't buy a gift or card. Sigh. (I told him that his gift this year will be no more PMS but it hasn't arrived yet. )
I am surpisingly not stressed about any of this...maybe just a bit weepy but that is to be expected.

Quick update: I realized that I didn't mention it before but my grandmother's breast cancer had come back. She also had cancer in her spine and liver but they're not sure if it was the breast cancer that caused the others or if it was the other way around.
Also, it has been 8 days since my surgery and the doctor has given me the "all clear" to resume almost all normal activities. I'm still going to be fatigued if I do too much so I am supposed to keep taking it slow. The good news is that they didn't find any cancer although he said all the signs were starting to point that way. They found that things were a lot worse than they originally thought and had progressed rapidly since I had a minor surgery and some tests done last year. Scary!
One more thing...hubby took me to a super new restaurant and gave me a VERY nice purse for our anniversary. I was surprised since I wasn't expecting a gift. He is happy that he will have no more PMS to deal with and says that having me healthy is the best gift of all. (Who are you and what have you done with my REAL husband?! jk)
The Dallas Night chapter and you GC Zetas have been wonderful, bringing dinner, calling and e-mailing to check up on me. It is truly a wonderful sisterhood! I feel incredibly blessed.
