It's not true for everyone. I know some people who were able to stay on their parent's insurance until they turned 25. However, in the military (my father is a marine) you are only covered after 18 if you are a student and at 23 you are cut off whether you're a student or not. It was hard at first, but then you get over it. I have insurance through my job now and it's really not so bad. I have a better understanding as to the way things work. So, don't worry too much. Just ask your parents what their insurance policy states about dependents.
