Since I'm currently taking a class in Evolution, my first thought was that you were discussing how certain groups grew out of each other...I thought you were going to talk about something like the following
Alpha Delta Phi ------>Beta Theta Pi------>Delta Tau Delta
....................................|
....................................|
....................................|_> Phi Delta Theta
(hoping my spacing holds...nope it didn't, hence the periods.)
That's what I thought you were saying about taxonomy...oh well, it's still good information
