As long as there is a need in our community, there is room for everyone.
Do you think the Susan G. Komen Foundation views the Breast Cancer Foundation(or the host of others) with anomousity because they are "moving in on their turf" of breast cancer research? Or that the American Heart Association views The National Institute of Health (or the countless other orgs) of being "against them" when they heart research? Of course not. If anything, they work together for the greater good.
Sometimes, I think this mindset prevents us from addressing those basic areas of need within our community and instead, causes us to spend too much time/energy on "which org/person gets the recognition of helping us" and not enough time/energy on the actual "helping".

I think you are right in what you said... It may be the method used to unite us as what may divide us the most... Is that justice or "just us"?
Some of the old guard still believes in the "we shall overcome protests" marching boycott mentality... Whereas, the new school believes in "sawed off shot gun, hand on the palm" mentality...
Either way, these two methods are now highly uneffective...
Ironically, it takes some act of violence without provocation to unite folks wholly...
Just look at Rodney King and what happened (and what didn't) before, during and after the LA riots...
Hayle, just look at 9/11 and what happened (and didn't happen) before, during and after the attacks...
Whether it will take some kind of event such at these to bring us under one accord is rather sad... But may be a necessary evil...
