Brothers,

My Zeta did hold two very popular parties in the past that related to the nickname "Chopper."

I remember the "Chopper" Party that was centered on a 1920s-30s gangster theme. We dressed up in trench coats, dark glasses, and carried Thompson submachine guns. Well, actually, very nice Mattel copies that did produce a very satifying "rat-a-tat-tat" sound! Of course, the nickname for the Thompson was "Chopper." We "kidnapped" our dates and took them back to our "speakeasy" styled Chapter room. A great party; lots of fun; and great memories. Can you imagine doing this today?

I also remember the more recent "Wood Choppers Ball." This involved a lot of plaid shirts; fake French Canadian accents; axes; and a big party in the woods! The "Moose was Really Loose!" We did rent a local lodge building, in a nearby state park, for the dance. However, I do believe that some Brothers also rented cabins for other overnight recreational purposes....

Yours in ZAX,

Mike Raymond, ZUZ
