On a serious note I think oversized confidence is more pervasive than just clothes. I mentor a teen who is always complaining how the teacher disrespects her - by correcting how she be talking and marking up her papers with red ink - she swears she is a great writer and the teacher is just hating. I've tried to explain that if she insists on speaking TWO languages then she needs to master both - English class is not the place to express your ebonic skills do that in creative writing...her head is so swole she thinks I'm a hater too. After a while I just stop talking about school with her- I have my degree.
While I don't want to dissuade her enthusiasm I've read her "work" and the truth is at 17 she is barely writing at a level I wrote at in 8th grade...the red marks are corrections in grammer and spelling....but you can't tell her anything. She knows everything and can't be taught anything while rocking a 65 average...
God bless all of you teachers...I don't have the patience at all.

That's exactly what I'm talking about, my mother has tons of students like her. I had a lot of classmates like that in high and middle school. I'm not really talking about overconfidence in body image wise, I mean overall.
