It is with great pleasure that I share with you the news that Dr.
Gayle
T. Tate has been awarded the prestigious award for best book on race
and
ethnic politics in local context, 2004, from the American Political
Science Association for her book "Rights for a Season: The Politics
of
Race, Class and Gender in Richmond, Virginia." The committee
recognized
her book as "path breaking, and will stand as a model for the
empirical
examination of race, class, and gender politics in American cities
for
many decades to come."
