New York State is one of the states that requires private insurers to pay for BC regardless of health reasons. So, unless you have a health plan sponsored by a religious organization, or a plan based out of another state, you should be fine. In that case, you should be able to lobby for health reasons if the provider puts the reason (ie, painful periods, taken due to being prescribed Accutane) on the prescription.
