trisigmaAtl et al,
"i understand the point...but i think the swearing in the post would have been overlooked if there hadn't been a characterization of what the chapter was known for on campus. "
This was pretty much my point. When someone credits their chapter with specific qualities, people often look for support for such claimed qualities. I didn't mean to suggest that April wasn't classy, and if that's how my post came across, I truly am sorry.
In a thread that calls attention to your national website, chances are that people other than Sigmas will both check out the site and read the posts about the site. Since the main topic of the thread concerns Sigma on the national level, it seems like it would be fitting for the posts to be representative of Sigma's objectives (nationally). Since character and conduct were mentioned specifically, it only makes sense that such qualities be present in the posts. Again, I only feel this way because of the subject of the thread.
My point was simply that, since many people read GC posts, we all ought to back up what we say appropriately. If I were to post that my chapter is known for its dedication to religious principles, people would wonder how accurate that statement was if I were also blasphemous in that same post.
I'm not trying to be defensive... or offensive for that matter. I just thought I'd clarify why I posted what I did. I think very highly of Tri Sigma; I've never met a Sigma I wouldn't be proud to call a friend. I guess I just got a little concerned about the level of informality used in discussing a relatively serious topic.
I'm not trying to tell anyone how/what to write, I was just stating my opinion. Like you, trisigmaAtl, I don't mean to ruffle any feathers or be disrespectful.
In Greek spirit,
