i understand the point...but i think the swearing in the post would have been overlooked if there hadn't been a characterization of what the chapter was known for on campus. people around here (GC) have a tendency to get a little touchy if posts aren't 100% PC (panhellenically correct). i'm actually almost afraid to post this b/c of the possible flame that will ensue. the fact is, saying shit in a post is not the most unbecoming thing any sorority woman can do. and pristine language does not beget good conduct, nor does it a lady make. she wasn't being un-sigma like, she was just being a regular person and regular people say shit sometimes. she wasn't bashing anybody, so I personally don't think it's that big a deal. like I said before, I understand having good conduct and having strong womanly character and watching what you say in public, etc. BUT to me saying the word shit twice in a post is not the same as a string of awful profanities or derogatory language against others.
...this forum is just now starting to pick up, I'd hate for people to stop posting b/c people will criticize them for every little thing.
I really don't want anyone to get uber defensive on this, I understand and respect everyone's opinion on this issue and I definitely understand everyone else's pov. I just wanted to put it in perspective, and offer some defense for a sister who was posting an innocent post and was then implied to be unclassy. so i'm sorry in advance for an feather ruffling. I love Sigma and GC too much to get in a flame war on this board, so i really want to stress the fact that i am meaning all this in the most respectful of tones and with an open mind. it's just my opinion.
