My guess is that NebraskaDelt, (and slickwilly and Senusret I) are talking about what we call a "gavel pass," where the gavel is passed around and everyone gets a chance, while holding the gavel, to speak what's on his mind.
I'm also wondering if kddani is talking about the sorority ritual where a candle is passed around a specificied number of times until it is stopped before a particular sister as a means of announcing a laveliering, engagement or the like.
Am I wrong?
