As for a cheaper cruise, I mentioned to kddani earlier tonight that I would be willing to spring for a few hours on the riverboat "Gateway Clipper" and they could cruise up and down the Allegheny River gazing at the Pittsburgh skyline.
OR maybe a Circle Liner cruise since they live right outside of NYC? Hmmmm...

Seriously, have a party OR send them on a decently priced cruise (but only if you promise not to hope the ship sinks!). Or better yet, I suggest that you each put that $2,400 into an account for the mother of all Fiftieth Anniversaries! Unless one of the two is unlikely to make it to their 50th, having a huge splash for the 40th will just set the bar too high for their 50th.
