The people that propose a flat tax suggest that it start at around 32,000 dollars a year income.
So up to 32,000 a year you would get no tax. After 32,000 you get taxed on the extra amount.
So at $60,000 you get taxed on $28,000.
That seems to benefit the poor to me.
