Caviar tastes somewhat salty. rather salty...be warned about that. If you are starting out, American sturgeon is a good choice. I like some of the pricier sturgeons (sevruga, osetra, beluga).

Usually, it's served on toast that has unsalted butter on it and a squeeze of lemon juice.

You can also add chopped red onions, capers, and chopped boiled eggs.
