I grew up with a child who was breastfed until the age of five...well, he drank breastmilk but wasn't literally breastfed. And, he had an incredible immune system. It seemed like he never got sick. So, there's definitely truth to that benefit! I also know a wetnurse who pumped herself to keep lactating. She would make cheese and yogurt out of breastmilk. I never tried it, but I'm told it's not bad.
