I was bottle fed, as were my siblings.
My son has been breastfed for his entire 18 1/2 months. He wasn't even interested in solids until he was about 8 months old, which is fine because the longer you exclusively breastfeed, the better.
The American Association of Pediatrics recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6-8 months, then continued nursing until at least age 2, longer if mutually desireable. The US has the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world, which is so very sad.

If it were up to me, artificial baby milk (aka 'formula') would only be available by prescription only and would be strongly regulated. The business practices of the formula companies are just horrible.
