Oh yeah, in VA it's handled by the county too, but the entire state requires the marriage license to be obtained before. Then you give it to your officiant, and he/she signs and returns it to the courthouse. But I did hear on the radio this morning that LA county requires it to be obtained within 10 days after the ceremony, so I guess Brit and Kevin are still okay...
