Cosign on Celtic and Rangers, only because each team is supported by a religion (Celtic is Catholic, Rangers are protestant), which makes for a brutal rivalry that always produces tension and drama.
Detriot: calls itself Hockeytown USA - at least when they are on Canadian broadcasts Toronto and Montreal always debate who is "Hockeytown"... sure they have more Stanley Cups... but we got the Hall of Fame. (Besides the Habs suck)

Celtic vs Rangers: first recorded soccer riot in 1899, required the military to intervene... and always be careful how you answer the question: "Are you left or right footed?" when in Glasgow...
