I really like Beth's idea about a joint philanthropy project with AGR. I would think that would help with the difference in alcohol policies. Perhaps they could help you with an ag in the classroom project. Who would argue that alcohol should be allowed there?!

For your rush, you may want to consider hand delivering individual invitations to select girls you'd like to recruit. Talk to the professors about who they think would be an asset to you. Then, assign a member or two to deliver the invitation to a social at the beginning of rush week (or maybe even an activity before rush). Ask them to bring a friend, too. Sometimes, girls with a slight interest won't rush because they think they're not really "wanted" or that they'd feel left out because their friends aren't involved. Once they realize they have been singled out and are VERY wanted, they feel flattered and their interest is piqued.

Again, tho, I need to agree with Beth in that 5 new members is not bad. Numbers will go up and down but you'll recover. It's better to get 5 very active leaders than 10 who don't make it thru the MC period.
