Same here, Soror. Matter of fact, I was instrumental in helping my chapter obtain more scholarship money for our high school juniors and seniors to attend the community college that I work for.

Through my church, we donate food to the needy and help with the elderly. I also am planning to get my 9 year old daughter started in her community service "outreach". My desire is to begin visiting nursing homes a couple of hours a week just to sit with the elderly to talk. Many of them are placed in these "homes" and forgotten. I love being around older folks because there is so much wisdom there. I want her to have this same love and appreciation, so we will begin our visits soon.

When I was in 6-8th grade my school [catholic school, so they could organize it] had a program w/ a local organization that took a group of us kids to a nursing home. We would talk to the residents, play games with them [bingo!], paint the ladies fingernails for the holidays, do art projects. It was a challenging but rewarding experience. I admire your plan. If you want to discuss any of the specifics of the program I was involved with, feel free to PM me. Good Luck
