Actually, Chi Omega was at the University of Maryland for a millisecond in the late 90s or early 2000s. They didn't have a colony there but they did take over the Gamma Phi Beta house which lost their charter due to low numbers. Fraternity row, which houses Gamma Phi Beta was going through renovations and I believe Chi Omega decided to not colonize, try to get members, until after the rennovations were complete. Which is a great idea because without a house on UMD, you're doomed. And obviously something happened during that process for them to back out and they disappered. If you weren't on campus at that time you wouldn't have known they were even "there" but I guess in truth they really weren't. But the house did have Chi Omega on it.
I think Chi Omega would be great at UMD but the school is very competitive and some of the houses are struggling so there is always that argument of do you want to bring another group on campus when some houses are struggling.
