The movie is really really close to the book. They did a great job of keeping it true to the original novel. There are some extras in there and some ommissions, but generally, it's the same. It only covers book one. Just up to the time when she and mark hook up at long last.
Here's the hilarity of a problem that would arise if the second book is also made into a movie. probably the most hilarious scene in the entire book is when bridget interviews Colin Firth, who she is infatuated with, and she keeps asking him questions about Sense and Sensability. Colin Firth, of course, plays Mark Darcy in the movie. I'd love to see how they get around that. It would be such a shame to take that scene out all together

Either way, the paper back is a pit pricey (25 dollars here, so probably about 20 by you).
WORTH EVERY PENNY .
