As one of the top two or three Yankees fans on here I feel compelled to respond to this sickening thread.
I hate to admit it, but the Yankees are not nearly as deep as in other years. Their bench is weak at best; I'd love to see Tony Clark and Miguel Cairo keep putting up solid numbers, but I don't think it's going to happen.
That and the fact that maybe Gordon and Quantrill have been slowing down after such good seasons...that's what happens when the starting pitching is mediocre.
The game against Cleveland made me sick to my stomach, and this shrinking lead is about to make me even sicker.
Can they hold on...yes, given that the Sox are playing above their abilities. The fact is that this is going to be one interesting Sept. and playoff season.
