But to repeat what I've said before, he's not alone. It was not at all uncommon for influential people to use their clout to get their sons into the Guard and out of the Draft.

I've been told that my parents sent a telegram to President Nixon to try to keep my brother out of Viet Nam! This after letters from their Congressmen, doctors, family, etc didn't work.
