No - not at all. Maybe at your campus those fashions are acceptable. From my point of view, I find them too 'club' for Recruitment. Of course, there is the rather large difference in age between us, too. Just because I wouldn't wear or recommend those outfits, doesn't mean that they are bad or anything. In fact, if I was the size I am now, and 20 years younger, I'd probably wear a lot of those things!
That said - I need to check the local Hot Topic store to see if they have that Betty Paige tee shirt...and the Jem & the Holograms stuff takes ME back to my collegian days!!
