I'm pissed almost beyond words.
The worthless p.o.s. that raped and murdered my cousin has filed for clemency. She was blind and mostly deaf and this guy checked her out of Arkansas School for the Deaf and Blind. Then, him and his cousin proceed to rape, beat the hell out of her and eventually stab her to death. He's raped other women and sexually (or carnally, same to me) assaulted young girls. He's serving 3 life sentences. Yet, this jackass thinks he deserves clemency? Screw him!
As if thats not bad enough, he's making my aunt have to go through all this chit again. The current prosecutor needs details from her because the original prosecutor retired and destroyed his files when he did. She has now had 2 children murdered. The other being a son about 8 years ago by a crackhead. She doesn't deserve this crap. He deserves to be severly maimed not awarded clemency.
The governor better do what's right this time. He's screwed up on these things in the past.
Just had to get this off my chest.
Metallica's "Creeping Death" is helping me vent as well.
here's the article (I pay for this paper so they can get over me using it here):
Prosecutor: Public’s help needed to fight clemency
BY RODNEY BOWERS ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE
BENTON — The Saline County prosecutor has asked for the public’s help in opposing a convicted murderer’s clemency application.
Prosecuting Attorney Robert Herzfeld said Tuesday that he wants Richard Wayne Wood III, 42, formerly of Little Rock, to remain in prison for the 1982 murder of Kelley Michelle Rowland, a blind and partially deaf student at the Arkansas School for the Blind at Little Rock, and for a series of sexual assaults in 1981.
"It’s hard for me to imagine how anyone could seriously consider ever letting this monster out of prison," Herzfeld said in a prepared statement. "Of course, I never would have imagined Gov. [Mike] Huckabee would have granted clemency to a man who lied six times on his clemency application and threatened former public officials, but he did just that last month for two-time killer Denver Witham."
Because information is "extremely limited" in Wood’s original court record, Herzfeld has asked that anyone with information about the case contact his office.
According to an account in the Arkansas Democrat, Wood, then 19, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in May 1982 in the death of Rowland, who was 20.
Wood told Circuit Judge John W. Cole of Sheridan that he picked up Rowland for a date on Feb. 12, 1982, and took her to a restaurant. He later drove her to Ferndale Road and raped her.
He said he then drove back to Little Rock and picked up his cousin, Jimmy Wayne Wood, and that the three went to Lake Winona in Saline County, where he hit Rowland three times with a crowbar after the two raped her. Richard Wood said his cousin offered him a knife, but he refused and Jimmy Wood then stabbed Rowland to death.
Rowland was stabbed at least 15 times in the back, chest and neck, an autopsy showed.
Jimmy Wood, 20 at the time, was acquitted in October 1982 of capital murder in Saline County Circuit Court.
Herzfeld, citing the Arkansas Democrat article, said Richard Wood pleaded guilty later in 1982 to two counts of rape, two counts of carnal abuse and a single count of burglary in Pulaski County. He received two life sentences for the rapes, 20 years for burglary and 10 years for carnal abuse, all to be served concurrently.
Herzfeld said Wood yanked a 37-year-old Little Rock woman off a bicycle in Boyle Park on June 13, 1981, and raped her.
Wood also raped a woman at gunpoint on Aug. 10, 1981, in her Ferndale home, according to the Arkansas Democrat article, and then carnally abused her 5- and 6year-old daughters.
On Oct. 4, 1981, Wood entered another Ferndale home and threatened to kill an 8-year-old girl. He fled when the girl’s mother began screaming, Herzfeld said.
"This murderer and serial rapist is serving three life sentences for his terrible crimes," Herzfeld said. "I’m hopeful that by getting this story out now, we can get some of these victims or their family members to come forward and help fight to keep him in prison."
Wood applied for clemency on July 28. The Post Prison Transfer Board will screen Wood’s application in November, said Rhonda Sharp, a spokesman for the board.
