It depends on the situation. You'd have to contact the U.S. Department of Education to see what your financial aid eligibility would be.

If the person is ineligible to receive federal student aid they need to contact the school they wish to attend to find out what the school could/would give them as an aid award. From there they could go to a private lender in which they could take out an alternative school loan. One of the hottest places for that right now is
