It is never good to call right after, immediately following the date no matter how good IMHO!!
But otherwise call when you say you will! I have to agree, we women sometimes do send mixeed signals, but all in all, we DO want you to do things that you say you will! then we think, "oh, cool...a man that actually keeps to his word!"
