Unhappy

It's been a while since this message was last posted, but I thought I'd give you all an update on my situation.

The teachers decided not to go on strike at the beginning of the semester because they felt that the governor should be given another chance to meet their needs. So far, the gov hasn't done squat and another vote will be cast next week. If the teachers decide to walk out, they can do so as early as April 2. Our spring break begins on March 24 and ends on April 1st...we're looking at an extended spring break. People ask me when I expect to graduate...and it really breaks my heart when I can't say when....because I really don't know. I've worked my ass (pardon my French) off this semester to get the grades I have so far! The professors don't want to leave their students, but can you really blame them?

Last week we had a huge student protest which included students from my campus and from the 4 community colleges included in our system. All their professors belong to the union too. The mood on my campus is not so good right now. It's a big mess here, no one really knows what's going on, and it's difficult to concentrate knowing that your professors are thinking of striking.

To make matters worse, our state public school teachers are also in demand for a pay raise. They were promised one a few years ago and never got it.

What the hell is going on with my state government???
