And what's going on with the guy with the little girl hooking up with the woman with the french horn playing boyfriend?

Thanks!
OK. Get your butt to the movie store & start renting the prior seasons on DVD! You must see them to understand how everyone interacts now.

At the risk of being spoilery-ish (for anyone who hasn't seen prior seasons), I'll try to answer some of your questions w/a very brief rundown, but can't tell you everything....you need to go see the prior seasons, at least season 1. I'm not sure I'd like the show now if I hadn't seen the first season. It was much quirkier & darker than it is now...you got to learn more about the dead people & their lives back then, and the dead people used to interact w/the Fishers as well...

Parents: George & Ruth just got married at the end of last season. Ruth is the widow of Nathaniel Fisher, the prior owner of Fisher & Sons Funeral Home (now Fisher & Diaz). He was killed in the first ep while on his way to pick up Nate (guy w/the little girl) from the airport. We don't quite know what George is all about yet.

Nate (guy w/the little girl) hooked up w/Brenda (girl w/french horn guy now) in a broom closet @ the airport on the day his father was supposed to pick him up from the airport...long story short, they stayed together in a wildly unhealthy relationship...then broke up...Nate married Lisa (mother of Maya), then Lisa disappeared/died. Now, Nate is messing around w/Brenda, even though Brenda is supposedly in a "healthy" relationship w/french horn guy....

Seriously, go rent the DVDs...you don't know what you're missing.
