CBS said Wednesday it has created a program to recruit minority journalists, not only at the network but also at its owned-and-operated stations and affiliates. Every year, a producer and reporter will be picked. They'll work at CBS affiliates with what the network called a strong commitment to mentoring; by the end of the two-year program, the network said it hopes the candidates will join CBS News. The program will begin in January.

I don't know how your affiliates are, but here in the NO, the CBS affiliate has many minorities are reporter/anchors (including my cousin). We even have a reporter who is of Asian decent. So, Channel 4 is probably ahead of the pact.

I wish that programs liked this existed 18 years ago, when I got out of college. I wonder if the affiliate in San Diego would participate. The affiliate had a handful of AfAm reporters, including an inactive soror who is now on a Denver station.
*Hijack* I know that I should be at Unity, the minority journalists' conference, but I haven't been an NABJ member for years. I need to renew.
