I am a colony and a chapter advisor--there are a few of us here. Even though there are challenges (and there are challenges!)--I love being a part of the collegians' energy and enthusiasm. It really is contagious and it keeps me connected to why I chose DPhiE. Out of all the positions I have held for DPhiE--being chosen as advisor is my favorite.
I spent Saturday with the colony women planning for the semester. Seeing where they are now, compared to where they were when they started in November is AMAZING. As a group they are strong--but as individuals, the growth is staggering. I have watched the meekest women take more responsibility. I have seen the boldest women grow in graciousness and understanding. They challenge me to be a better DPhiE, and a better woman.
I get to see the countless little accomplishments--the smallest of kindnesses and displays of sisterhood--that often go unrecognized at the international level. And I get to be the one they come to with questions and when they need guidance. I get to be a small part of their lives, and teach them what DPhiE is, and that is inspiring.
That's why I LOVE being an advisor. I encourage you to pursue the opportunity!
