I have a really outstanding driving record, with only three moving violations in 40 years of driving. The first violation was within weeks of first getting my license.
Every time I've been stopped or been in an accident (never my fault -- thankfully), the police have been highly respectful and very professional. I am always respectful to them as well.
My daughter was once stopped by a real jerk once on the way to a dance at school, and I complained to the County Sheriff whom I had met a couple of times. Two of the officer's superiors got back to me right away. They said he must have had a bad day because he's a really good guy. I told them that was fine, and I didn't want him punished -- but just wanted him to know how his attitude affected young adults and their respect for the police.
Which is a long way of saying I don't like to hear police referred to as a$$holes either. If you're breaking the law and get caught, they're just doing their jobs -- and their jobs aren't easy.
