I've travelled to many places overseas, including South East Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
I'm thankful for:
- my family has not had any tragedies or terrible health problems
- clean water
- clean air (well where I live, the air sure seems clean relative to the polluted places I've been to!)
- decent, ORGANIZED transportation
- as a woman, being permitted a say in government
- having the right to drive a car as a woman (not always the case in the Arab world)
- being able to have easy access to reference information on human reproduction
(I saw the story of Margaret Sanger, the Founder of Planned Parenthood, and realized that access to information on things like contraception was
denied to people in the past (and not that long ago either). In the past, doctors could be arrested for sharing information with their patients like how to avoid unwanted pregnancy!
- I'm also thankful to my wise grandmother who had the foresight to get her family out of her country during WW2, or I would have been growing up behind the Iron Curtain.
