I used to work for a company that gave us a certain amount of money each year to use toward a wellness initiative - it could be a gym membership, weight loss program, stop smoking program, or purchasing gym equipment for yourself. I figured that gym memberships expire, but gym equipment you can keep. I picked up an elliptical machine, stationary bike, weight machine, and some hand weights.
This way, I have no excuses. I can't say "it's snowing, I can't get to the gym, so I'll be lazy" or "I don't feel like driving into town, changing, working out, showering, changing again, and driving home". All I have to do is grab some water and go downstairs. I also don't get distracted chatting with other people, since it's just me.
When I travel, I either work out in the hotel's fitness center if it has one, swim if there's a pool, or just go for a run or walk.

That's actually a pretty cool benefit - the hospital I work for gives small gym reimbursments, and gives money off for the hospital's quit smoking and weight loss programs, but nothing as far as buying gym equipment.
Not a bad deal at all.
