I've heard of it. It just sounds like clubs I know of in Philadelphia (that I'm sure exist in other cities) except on a national scale. The club in Philadelphia I know wants its members to have at least some musical talent, but it's pretty much guys who are rich and/or went to the Ivies together. And like to sing, drink, and dress up in drag (one night a year).

I dated a guy who was in one of these in Phila - they gave choral concerts, did a drag show for family and friends, and had a neat little "hidden" clubhouse (in a nice colonial townhouse) where they had a bar, dining room and theater.

The Bohemian Grove is this sort of thing on a national scale. Oo, I get to hang out and drink and totally relax with Henry Kissinger or Dick Cheney for a few days without women around to nag us, with no pagers, no assistants/secretaries, none of the general public around to be annoying. When I first heard about this years ago, I thought it was awful. Now I kind of get it a little more (even though I'm female and therefore banned). I'm more annoyed by country clubs, where business gets done on a regular basis and colleagues can take clients but I can't take clients unless my husband is a member.
