Here's a scary statistic from US News:
In 1900, voter turnout was 73.7%.
In 2000 (so far), it was 48.9%.
Just remember - if you don't exercise your right to vote, you lose your right to complain!

I definitely agree that to not vote is to surrender complaining rights. Also, to not vote because you don't like any of the candidates is not a good reason either, its avoiding the question.
As a response to the statistics above, don't forget that the percentage of the population allowed to vote is much higher now also.
Plus, it just occurred to me that the 48.9% voter turnout we have now is the percentage of REGISTERED voters which I believe is somewhere around half the eleigible voters. I am almost positive that I am correct on this.
