I just moved into my new place this Saturday, so I'm starting to get the essentials together. And thanks to the rest of you for helping me get some wonderful ideas!!! Here are my essentials so far:
1) Bath & Body Works scented jellies for the bathroom. I just got my pumpkin spice one today. Gotta have that.
2) Bathroom coordination. I have a bathmat, shower curtain, and toilet seat cover all in a royal blue with fish all over it (thank you Wal-Mart).
3) I gotta have my futon. It pulls out for those nights when I don't feel like walking the 4 feet to my bedroom, and it's got a big fat comfy mattress on it.
4) My VCR. I am a movie rental ADDICT. Even worse than I'm addicted to greekchat. I rent three movies every two days, and I'm getting to the point where I've seen everything in the video store and the people that work there know me by name. I have movie rentals budgeted into my monthly expenses.
5) I have to have bookshelves everywhere. I'm a political science major, which means my text books are basically outdated every semester. That means I get NO money to return them, so I have stacks of political science texts all over my apartment.
6) Corn dogs and fruity pebbles. Provided those are in my apartment, I will survive.
7) FISH. Gotta have the fish. They're the most low-maintenance pets I have ever had, even considering cleaning the tank every 2 weeks. However, my roommate drowned them in beer, so now they're brain damaged. One of the reasons I moved out.
8) Leopard print everything. I like the black & white theme as well, so I have black & white leopard print everywhere, including pillows on the couch and a bedspread.
9) Pictures of children. I've mainly been collecting drawings and paintings of German children, being that's my heritage. I also have a few Anne Geddes, which always make me smile. Anyone have any suggestions where to find artwork of children?
10) My curtains. I couldn't find black & white curtains to go along with my black & white apartment, so I went to the wonderful Wal-Mart, found some cheap leopard print material, and used fabric glue to hem and add fringe to my new curtains. It took probably 3 hours tops, and they look awesome!
I have quite a few odd needs I guess... LOL!
