Let me set the stage for you. I'm just an Average Jane poster here at GC. I have 700+ posts; I'm not exactly "quiet". Nonetheless, I can't remember a time when I have been controversial or anything like that. As I don't recall ever being mean to anybody, I don't consider myself to be a hypocrite.
As I mentioned before, I don't know what these cliques are about. I have no idea who all is in the Harem, what the letters H&A stand for or what "the way of the cougar" is referencing. What I have seen is certain people (who I will not name) taking the liberty to be intentionally unkind to others. At the same time, others will join in on the mean-spirited commentary and "inside joking" apparently egged on by what definitely appears to me to be a clique.
At least, that's how it looks to Average Jane me.
Sadly, I am now beginning to think poorly of those posters as people. They're people I don't really want to talk to on GC.
I just feel like they're not very nice and, if I tried to join in on a conversation, I'd probably get ignored or pushed around because I'm not in their "cool group".
Is it just me who notices this? Clearly not.
I guess these people don't realize how bad they look to others. Maybe they don't care. Normally I would just try and ignore them, but it's kind of hard to when these people are barging in on threads and starting stuff seemingly at random.
I'm not going to call anyone out. I just want people to seriously set their pride aside for a few seconds and actually consider their behaviour in recent times. Have you made a "joke" about someone lately which you knew deep down was meant to mock them in public? Have you intentionally disrupted threads just because you wanted to frustrate someone you don't like? Have you defended your friends' behaviour even though maybe they had crossed the line?
I echo the other people who have posted asking the members of the GC community to be wiser about their postings. We don't have to like everyone on here, but skewering people a la junior high school just isn't cool.
