Quote:
In offering this vision, we affirm our faith in the greatness of America. We recommit to the ideal of a people united in helping one another, an ideal as old as the faiths we follow and as great as the country we love. To those who are threatened, we pledge protection; to those who are victims, we promise justice; to those who are hopeless, we offer hope.
|
So it is the government's job to offer hope? What happened to faith in God, hard work, etc? And for the record, the Republican party is definitely against protection and justice. Yup.
Quote:
To meet these challenges, we need a new national security policy guided by four new imperatives: First, America must launch and lead a new era of alliances for the post-September 11 world
|
Translation: Give more money to foriegn countries such as France. When it comes to our interactions with the UN, we just do as we are told.
Quote:
Second, we must modernize the world's most powerful military to meet the new threats.
|
Yes, the Republicans are against this. uh-huh.
Quote:
Third, in addition to our military might, we must deploy all that is in America's arsenal -- our diplomacy, our intelligence system, our economic power, and the appeal of our values and ideas
|
You sure this isn't GWB's platform?
Quote:
Fourth and finally, to safeguard our freedom and ensure our nation's future, we must end our dependence on Mideast oil.

Potential solution for Democrat politicians: $2.00/gallon tax on all gasoline will force many Americans to consider alternatives to gasoline. How can they be against Mideast Oil when they are also against new drilling? (ANWAR anyone?) I'm sure to make the ELF people happy, they'll say they want alternative sources of power. But we're talking about the next 4 years -- not a 20 year plan that involves more hybrid and alternative fuels.
Conclusion: This statment by the DNC is worthless in its entirety as to how it sets them apart from GWB. It could just as easily be a speach that Bush gave. I guess it confirms what I thought about the main point of this contest. Kerry's real motto will be "Vote for me, I'm not Bush".
