When my big sis was revealed to me, we did the string through the house thing. No one complained everyone loved it, and the only thing that I think could have been considered "dangerous" was that with so many girls in one house and string everywhere, it was a fire hazard and a half.
Personally, I don't like the idea of eating a pie or whatever to find out who your big sis is, but that's what my little had to do (thought up by that year's new member ed, not me!) and that new member class always thought it was a really lame idea, but not hazing. Typically, littles will do just about anything fun and suspenseful to find out who their bigs are, but hopefully are not subjected to hazing in the process, or any other for that matter.
