Oh my gosh, Leslie, I'm so sorry to hear about this!! I didn't even realize what had happened down there until I read it in the newspapers while I was packing on Thurs.! Even then, I didn't realize that was in your neighborhood. OMG, how scary - was all that bamboo on fire??
Regarding your friend, Nick, I'm grateful to hear that all lives were spared. While losing a house is a BFD, it's just a thing that can be replaced; loved ones cannot be replaced. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and that when God closes one door another (eventually) opens - and it is usually for the best. (although it sux in the meantime!)
I'll keep you and your neighbors in my prayers!!!
PS - I'm farther North than FD, and while we got torrential rains, there was no significant damage around here. I was wondering why out of state relatives were calling since I don't watch the news or read a newspaper. (I DO read online news, everyday at work, but was on vacation this week to prepare for my move.)
