i had two roommates my freshman year:
The first one was a guy I graduated high school with and had known since 7th grade. We roomed together for the first semester. We were still friends, but when the opportunity came up to get single rooms for each of us, we jumped at the chance (no more "tube sock on the doorknob" policy
)
As bad luck would have it, for the second semester I gained a new roomate in my single dorm by proxy. This guy constantly left his dirt laundry all over the floor of our already tiny room, he came in drunk off of his ass 4-5 times a night, loud during quiet hours, and one night brought the residence hall coordinator, my RA, and two ECU police officers to my door at 4:15am to look for him because he had destroyed a water fountain a few floors above ours. Needless to say, he wasn't ready for college life and was kicked out of school with a 1.2 GPA after the first year.
