Before I share my story, I should mention that going to college was my first time w/ any sort of move or roommate experience (I lived in the same house, same bedroom my whole life and had never had to deal w/ anything of this magnitude).

Okay, my first roommate (w/ whom I shared the room for 4 weeks) was psycho. Seriously - she was schizophrenic (but my RA couldn't tell me that officially b/c it was "classified"). She claimed people would call the room and describe to her over the phone what she was wearing (always after I had left, of course), and she was "attacked" walking back to the dorm room twice in those first weeks (okay, we're in like the top 10 safest campuses in the country - we have like 1 attack a year, if that). Then she started wearing my clothes w/o asking me first. All the time. So, I mentioned that she should wash them since she was wearing them, and she did wash them, but she folded them and put them back in the drawers -- WET.

The final event that pushed me over the edge of kicking her out was when I went out for like the first time and stayed out all night (I stayed in another dorm to get the heck away from her!). I came in the next morning and there was a note on my door from some girls down the hall. I went down to see them and they started handing me my stuff back, like my purse, medicine bottles, etc. Apprantly my roommate had a "bad headache" and started taking all the pain relievers in sight. Okay psycho girl, go find a new roomie. I marched my bootie down to the housing office and demanded she be transferred b/c there was no way I was paying the $100 fee to get away from a suicidal psycho.

She moved out.

The next girl I roomed w/ seemed really nice at first - she was a friend who lived down the hall and moved in a few days after the first girl moved out. But then she started having boy problems. Turns out, she had never had a boyfriend...so the first boy that showed any interest in her was her new love and, well, we all see where this is going. Needless to say he broke her heart and she cried and cried and cried and drove me nuts. Shortly thereafter she met another boy, and that one stuck. Yay for me!...or so you'd think. He started spending the night all the time...and she was so scared of getting caught while sneaking him out to use the bathroom in the middle of the night that she let him urinate in a container and leaving it by the door. Ick ick ick! My first encounter w/ it was when I came in late one night and opened the door to the room - and knocked it over.

Well, she ended up being my roomie for the rest of the year, but we weren't friends like we thought we were going to be at the beginning it all. Just too different I guess.

Want to hear about any more? I have 2 more stories to tell (although I guess this thread is just for freshman year stories).
