If you've got a blankie over the breastage - do it in public all you want. If you are in the middle of Target at least I can walk to another department - and I'd rather have happy suckling baby in my area than screaming baby.
I think it's more uncomfortable when a friend or someone whose house you are visiting automatically assumes you are OK with it and whips it out. Please, just say "excuse me, I have to nurse" and go to another room. Not everyone wants to watch, especially if it's up close and personal.
