Co-sign. Especially since Voldy said that the one that left would be killed. Maybe there is more to that. Perhaps Voldy not only wants to kill Snape because he left the death eaters but also because he tried to get in the way of the Potter murder.
And if Snape did try to help/warn the Potters beforehand, of course they probably wouldn't take him seriously. After all, he IS/WAS a D.E.
I finished up OotP again the other night. I re-read the prophecy and whatnot again. Yeah my whole original thought on Nelville being the chosen one: blew it out of the water. Harry's the marked man.
And some interesting fan-fic info: mugglenet had a contest to write the last couple paragraphs of the 7th book. There were 3 winners. One almost brought me to tears. Not because it was generally written that well, but it's just that I could totally see it happening. But then it could get too LoTR-like and I don't if JKR will do that. The fics are under the "competitions" link.
Also, anyone else think that Dumbledore will be killed off? I can figure Snape as a possibility. But JKR says there will be lots of death in the last books and one will be particularly hard to write. People have guessed Harry, but I don't think she would kill off the main character. So the next "best thing" would be Dumbledore. Just my thoughts.
