I joined a local Fraternity because the brothers were ones I could most identify with. There were also a lot of leadership opportunities because the membership had dropped very low in the house. Many of my freinds and I pledged the house, and by the end of this year I think we'll have tripled the membership. We'e put alot of effort into the house and have had great Alumni support(which locals sometimes have had trouble with). We don't participate in large national philanthropy projects, instead we concentrate our efforts in helping out members of our own community. I like the freedom that is associated with a local. The thing to realize that with more freedom comes greater risk and responsibility.
