yikes. And thanks, 33girl, for stepping in.
Phi Mu is actually VERY strong nationally. (Obviously -- otherwise we wouldn't have been at your college in the first place!) If you need verification... check with the 140,000 women we have scattered across the country, the continent, the nation!
While it is certainly true that Phi Mu has a strong southern tradition, we have many, many, thriving chapters in the northermost states as well.

the Phi Mu website:
The Extension Committee of the National Panhellenic Conference will assist any campus wishing to add a NPC sorority chapter or establish a Panhellenic system. The Committee also will assist any local sorority wishing to affiliate with Phi Mu or any other NPC member group. Any individual, college Panhellenic or local sorority needing information should contact:

as I'm sure you already know, NPC on your campus has to decide to expand, then invite several groups to "interview". Some colleges WANT groups that've already been on campus; some colleges feel like a group that's left campus has "had their chance."
you can also contact
erawson@phimueo.NOSPAM.org (but take out the "no spam" when you write in the email, of course!) She's at the Phi Mu executive office, and should be able to help answer your questions.
Good luck, I know any of us would cheer on a new Phi Mu chapter, especially at a great school like yours!
