My pet theory is, the further removed you are from campus life, the more Panhellenic you become. In other words, it's more Greeks v. GDIs as opposed to GLO v. GLO.
I tend to agree. While I might not go so far as say its Greek *versus* GDI, I have noticed that many of my friends are Greeks.

And by friends, I mean people that I associate with socially - some more than others - and not just from either work or community organizations etc.

Some of these friends are ones I've had since high school and college, others I've met over the years and we have remained good friends. I'm sure that if I checked in other circumstances - flat out asked people's affiliation if any - I'm come across even more Greeks.

For the heck of it, I did a quick list of known affiliations of my friends. Frankly, I'm rather amazed at the wide number of GLOs represented. I know that one reason for the number of sororities is that they are wives of Sigs. And many other couples I've met, both are Greeks and I am friends with "the couple". As such, I kind of get "two for one".
