I wrote a paper on it for my semantics class. It was about agenda setting. My paper basically explored how magazines like Seventeen contribute to the consumption habits of young ladies by showing ads even when they don't know what they're seeing is ads. After a talley of how much space was used for ads vs. articles, (I included any kind of product placement/use type articles as ads) I came up with about 80% of the magazine being devoted to advertisers.
Was a good paper. Got a 99%
